A Chanukah Campaign for Shamir Medical Center
This Chanukah, we are called to bring light to those who defended us, those who are victims of terror, and now fight to rebuild their lives.
At Shamir Medical Center, young warriors with blast injuries, amputations, and trauma are learning to walk, stand, and live again. Since October 7, hundreds of wounded soldiers and civilians have severe limb damage and brain injuries.
Inside Shamir’s Limb Reconstruction Unit, surgeons are saving arms and legs that would once have been amputated. They can continue doing so only with a $460,000 surgical microscope, the tool that makes advanced limb-saving operations possible.
Without it, many will lose limbs that could be saved.
Shamir is also home to Israel’s national program for blast-induced brain trauma, led by the Sagol Center. Thousands suffer memory loss, dizziness, depression, and suicide risk, wounds no one can see.
